i rented a movie from the itunes store and now it won't download
I rented a movie from the iTunes store and it won't download.
It also doesn't show up in my purchased movies

You only get one download with a rental so it would not show up as a purchase and it's not a purchase anyway. It's a rental. It would help if you descirbed what is happening other than the movie won't download,
Do you see a Downloads tab in the iTunes Store on the bottom right corner of the app? If you see that Downloads tab, tap on it and see if you can resume the download in the next screen.
IF you don't see the download tab, try resetting the iPad and see if the download resumes. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
