Forced to re-install Mountain Lion

I've been using Mountain Lion for about 3 months with no serious problems

except for repeating stupid message about local hostname changing.

I just did an ordinary restart and instead of usual home window, I was presented

with several options in order to proceed. The only one that worked was re-installing

Mountain Lion after being forced to change Apple ID and Password.

Anyone know why this happened and how to prevent in future?
