Why is the screen cropped?

Now my Netflix programming is cropped on the sides as if I had one of those ancient narrow obsolete TVs, and there's no apparent adjustment.

That will occur when content has been shot or provided in 4:3. It is being displayed the way it is meant to. If you want it to fill your screen you would need to change your TV settings, but this will stretch/distort the image as well

That's not what's going on here. This occurred with an individual episode of a TV series shot at 16 x 9 aspect. Other episodes of the same TV series displayed in the appropriate format. After consulting with Apple phone support, we determined the problem was with Netflix and their feed settings. Netflix was notified and they promised they would make the appropriate adjustments.
