Latest Java 8 Update 45

Just got a "Software Update" notice that a new version of Java is available. Java 8 Update 45. Is this valid? I'd rather download and install it myself. Which is the best URL to go to? When I go to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.h tml

I see two possibilities there. One is 57.71 MBs and the file ends in .dmg. The other is 53.6 MBs and the file ends in tar.gz.

Which of these should I download and install (in any) on OS 10.10.3?

Download the .dmg file. Tar.gz files would be recomended for advanced users which knows how to install app via terminal by using archive files.
