why does it say Kyrgyzstan in my recents in iPhoto on my mac

I am confused. I have never been to Russia, yet it says Kyrgyzstan in my recents in iPhoto on my Mac. Not normal. Any help for me?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

A day or two ago, something very similar cropped up as a 'side effect' symptom in another thread - the OP's statement here > iPhoto says "Your computer is not connected to the internet" describes how a known location (a US National Monument or park) was misidentified by iPhoto under Yosemite as being in Australia. Additionally, it identified some 'old photo prints that had been scanned' location to within 3 blocks of their actual location.

Those things indicate that (the latter had NO GPS data!) it is very likely that iPhoto is attempting a 'best guess' at a location (old photo's "environment") using a reverse image search of a very large image database (see my proof later in that thread of how that could easily be). Evidence does not show whether or not iPhoto is misinterpreting GPS data in the EXIF data from digital camera or it is ignoring it and reverse image searching to guess. Either way, fallacious places are reported.

Since either of those are not user addressable, you can change the wrong ones > iPhoto '11: Change or manage place names and map locations
