iphone 4S/itunes will not update songs properly

Hello -

Have an iphone 4S. When I sync from my itunes library, it is not updating the songs.

For instance, I have a custom album of songs on there that I have been editing for singing rehearsal purposes.

It has synced them at multiple times, and now that album is showing up as two different albums (titled exactly the same), and the new versions of the songs have not shown up.

The metadata in iTunes is exactly the same for the songs, so they should not be splitting into two albums of the same title.

The updated songs are not copying to my iphone.

I rebooted the phone.

I erased the iTunes file from the iphone and completely resynced the entire library.

The problem still persists.

How do I fix this, please?
