FileVault, Core Storage issues with OS X Yosemite

I am experiencing startup issues and general system instability when using FileVault on OS X Yosemite. I have received a replacement computer from Apple, yet the same issue exists. When I start the system and use Setup Assistant, the system hangs on the FileVault setup screen, and refuses to complete Setup Assistant entirely. The Apple technician suggested disabling CoreStorage, the standard volume management method in OS X Yosemite, and re-enabling it after completion of the Setup Assistant. Even then, I continue to notice issues with startup and system stability. This issue has occurred on 3 Mac notebooks, including a 2012 MacBook Air, a 2015 MacBook Air, and a 2015 MacBook Pro Retina. This leads me to believe the issue is due to the implementation of CoreStorage on OS X Yosemite, which I am unable to disable. This issue has rendered 3 Macs nearly unusable. Clean installing Yosemite doesn't seem to fix the issue. Can anyone explain what can possibly be going on, and ultimately lead me to a solution to fix this problem?

The system will freeze when I type in my password, then restart.

I notice that when it restarts, the system starts up to the boot disk instead of the Recovery HD, essentially disabling FileVault. At this point, there is no way to re-enable secure startup unless I reinstall OS X Yosemite.

This occurs every 3rd time the system starts up.

This issue occurs on all of my Mac systems.

With system stability I notice lag with closing and opening programs, as well as waking from sleep and shutting the system down.

Safari will crash intermittently both in the Guest account (booted into Recovery HD) and the standard system account.

Once again, this happens on all Mac systems, and does not stop even after several clean installations and SSD replacements by the Genius Bar.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.

Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.

The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

Test while in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
