May 3, 2015 7:18 PM in response to mef4dsby LarryHN,Yes -- but I suggest you not - if is difficult to reinstall the iPhoto application if you trash it and it is small so it is best to keep it in case you want it for any reason - and the iphoto app has nothing at all to do with the photos - they are no in the app but in the library - and deleting it saves very little space so again is not a good idea

May 3, 2015 11:14 PM in response to mef4dsby léonie,I just want to mess up the photos. iPhotos says that the pictures are in photos but I want to make sure. Thanks
Keep iphoto and your iPhoto Library until you have tested the Photos library thoroughly and are sure, you do not need iPhoto any longer. Photos does not support all features that iPhoto could do and you may want to iPhoto for these tasks, like assigning locations to a phot or batch changing the titles.
The migration created a second photo library, and renamed your iPhoto Library to iPhoto Library.migratedphotolibrary. This is a working iPhoto Library. If you launch iPhoto, you will see a warning, that the library has been migrated, but you can simply click "open iPhoto" and iPhoto will work with its old library (see this link: If Photos won't open a library that you already migrated - Apple Support )
The new Photos library is sharing the original image files with your old iPhoto Library. So the photos have not been duplicated and both libraries together do not need more space than one of them. There is no point in deleting iPhoto or its library to save space, because it would not free storage: see this link: Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support
Also, you may need pHot to repeat the migration, if you should discover some photos or videos have not been migrated properly.
