Mac wont turn on or respond to charger

My Macbook pro is under a year old, never been dropped, never had an issue. However, yesterday it randomly turned off while plugged in (it had alot of charge in it also) and refused to turn back on or respond to the charger (no lights). I've tried rebooting, resetting the SRC(?) and other key induced boot ups, with no respond, not even a flicker.

When I told my sister about it, she said a few times with her Macbook pro it went into "protective mode" and turned back on after a few days, and even said apple store confirmed this. Is this true?

I contacted Apple support, and both people were barely understandable.. they then told me i had 'no warranty' and i needed to pay $200 to continue with troubleshooting over the phone! (Its under a year old.. the 1 year warranty should still be intact)

I can't even afford to drive up the coast to the nearest apple store, or pay $200 bloody dollars for something i know nothing about, and could be BS.

This Mac has EVERYTHING for uni (i'm distance ed) and i'm really panicking

Someone please help!!

It sounds to me like you didn't call Apple, but a third party.

There may be a charge (Free phone support is 90 days from day of purchase, but can be extended if you buy the applecare protection plan - That may have been the charge as it is higher for computers). You DO have warranty for 1 year, but you have to either visit an Apple Store, or arrange to send your device in for testing.

If you have no Apple Store nearby, look for an Apple Authorized Service provider. If you can't find one on your own, call Apple care, and ask them to provide you with the contact info for the nearest AASP.
