Setting up iCloud in a brand new Ipad.

We started the setup of iCloud in new iPad settings. In iCloud-part it requested psw and when it was correctly typed, the system started a non ending update operation in iCloud Drive part. We could only close the iCloud account and lost the contents of Day One program.

What went wrong? We only did what the UI allowed us to do and ended in deadend.
