macbookair will not turn on, loads half of loading gimp then turns off

My macbook air is acting very strange today, i turn it on, the apple logo appears and so does the loading gimp, however the loading gimp gets to half way then shuts down the computer, the power source is fine, the ventilation is fine, it just wont fully load and turn on??
