Are purchased itunes Movies DRM free or DRM protected??

They are protected, they can only be played through a computer's iTunes, Apple TV, and on iOS devices (they can't, for example, be copied onto DVDs and played through DVD players ; they can be copied to DVDs for backup purposes).
