Can not send mail, only receive. Two messages pop up, one is "username or password is incorrect for SMTP". The other message is "cannot send mail. The message was rejected by the server".

Enter your user name and password in the Outgoing Mail Server section of the Mail Account even if it says that is optional.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > your Email Account > SMTP > the Server name > Add your User Name and Password.
On both iPad and iPhone I can not receive mail, message first said " the username or password for SMTP IS INCORRECT" now it says " cannot send mail, the message was rejected by the server
