I accidentally deleted the Photos app, how can I install it again?

I am not sure how I ended up removing the whole thing, I was messing around with some cleanup apps, and my new Photo app was gone.

I tried downloading and installing the whole new update that included Photo - Manually, however it is still missing from the system.

Can I find it standalone somewhere? Or do I need to do a back up from my time machine?

Thanks!

Photos for Mac is installed as part of MacOS X 10.10.3.

The safest way to reinstall it, is to boot into the Recovery partition and to reinstall MacOS X, not just the latest update. Simply install the system again on top of your current system. You do not need to wipe the drive or restore from Time Machine.

See this link for reinstalling from Recovery: OS X: About OS X Recovery

Make a current backup before reinstalling.

Also, if cleaning software managed to uninstall Photos, it might have caused even more damage to your system, that you did not notice yet, so reinstalling will be a good precaution.

Thank you all for the fast replies. It is definitely no longer on the computer, the app I downloaded was not an adware app, however an app to make sure programs get deleted fully. So I dont think there are any other complications except for the removal of the Photos app, and me not being able to re-install it.

Here is the etresoft list.

Problem description:

Accidentally deleted the new Photos app for Yosimite

1- get rid of the cleaning application - they are not needed and often cause problems like this and worse

2- look in your applications folder - if Photos is there launch it and keep it in the Dock

3 - if it is not I would reinstall OS X 10.10.3 as it is likely that other problems were caused by "cleaning" your Mac

You've installed one of the top malwares there is:

[loaded] com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Scheduler.plist [Click for support]

I also would be leery of using AppCleaner.

[running] com.freemacsoft.appcleanerd.plist [Click for support]

You can Google for instructions for removing Clean My Mac3. When you're done check to see if you've gotten all of the files removed by downloading and running Find Any File to search for any files with "the application's' name" and the "developer's name" in the file name. For example for CleanMyMac you'd do two searches:

1 - Name contains "cleanmymac"

2 - Name contains "macpaw"

Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop for deletion.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

Never run any "cleaning" or "optimizing" apps or antivirus apps. The just are not necessary for Macs.
