The videos i transferred from my iPhone to iPhoto on my laptop have disappeared?

The videos i have transferred from my iPhone 5S to iPhoto on my MacBook Pro have disappeared?!

Basically what's happening is the videos i had imported into iPhoto are in events, but nothing is in the dated events? No videos at all. The worst part is i have deleted them from my iPhone, believing them to be safe on my laptop. I have no idea how to retrieve the videos, please help!
