External Audio Input

I want to input stereo audio via a USB port (which I have the hardware to accomplish). What I want now is a simple app that will recognize the input so I can hear it and record it. I do not want to use Garageband. Anyone know a good simple app to do this (similar to Audio Hijack)?

You know, I tried opening the 2 QT apps I have.....QTplayer and QTplayer7.

In neither did I find a way for it to recognize the audio input source (coming from the USB).

What am I missing?

Let me add-when I set the System Pref. to the USB input I was able to see the source was coming in but just couldn't hear it.

I even did a Photo Booth movie recording and it did record the USB audio source.

It's there, I just need to bring it out and my guess is there must be a way thru QT as you suggest.

Thanks
