Macbook Air 11.6 - glass overlay?

Hi all, I have a rather newbish question. I recently bought a Air 11.6 (latest model) and I was a bit surprised when I happened to touch the screen to wipe a way a spec of lint, the screen was quite soft and reacted to my touch. Much like a bare LCD screen would!

When I was in the store looking at them, I never thought to touch the screen to check for glass. Maybe this is common or obvious, but is this normal? Shouldn't there be a layer of glass, much like my Macbook Pro 13?

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), 11.6

It's normal. To make devices thinner, the glass is no longer a separate layer, but is integrated into the screen assembly.
