Gray bar while using Pages (5.5.3) in full screen that won't go away?

Does anyone have any idea why this obtrusive gray bar comes up when I use Pages (5.5.3) in full screen mode? It goes away when I go out of full screen, but the second I go back in, it comes back. It only happens on certain documents. When it does happen, it permanently stays with the document it gets attached to. I'm positive it's not a toolbar and I just can't get it to go away. It's so bothersome on my 11-inch Air.
