can't download photos from iphone6 to macbook

since iPhotos updated a week or so ago, on my macbook pro, i can't see or download any photos that are on my iphone6 ( after february 2015) to my macbook photo library. it may be a coincidence but it seems to be the 1000 photos that are in MY Photo Stream on my phone.
