I bought a used ipad at a police seized property auction. It was erased and restored. Now it wants the previous owners apple id and password. I have a receipt for the purchase. Will apple help with this?

AS far as most of us know here, the only ones that Apple are helping are the original purchaser. The receipt that you have is not the original sales receipt, and I don't know if they would do that for seized property. However, as Niel stated, only Apple could answer that. I did read a post in the past where someone bought several at a business foreclosure, but he was able to get the auction house to get the company to provide the original purchase receipts. You may be out of luck.

Since we are all users here.....just like you....I don't think that anyone here is going to be able to give you accurate information about what Apple will do.
Best to call Apple and ask them what they will do.
