My purchased items won't play because it says cannot find file

When i go to play a song i have purchased from iTunes it says "The song 'xxx' could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it now?".

There is no option to redownload it from the cloud.

iTunes uses a database to tell it which file to play when you click on a track. Either computer or human error has done something to make this information invalid. You can try to point iTunes to the correct file by saying "yes" when it asks you to find a file. If the file is truly gone from the computer and your country permits re-downloading delete the track completely from iTunes (even a bad link makes iTunes think the file is there somewhere) and it should appear in your download list.
