iCloud Syncing Priority

Greetings. I have an iPhone 6 with up-to-date calendars and contacts that have been synced to iCloud for some time. I want to sync it to my MacBook Pro. I finally updated my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Yosemite and can now access iCloud. My calendars and contacts on the MacBook are not accurate. How do I make sure that when I turn on iCloud that it does not overwrite the correct info that I have on my iPhone? Is there some way to set the priorities? Thanks.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.3, MacBook Pro OS X 10.10.3
