How to magnet Timeline in iMovie

Hi,

I have a project that is ~100 short videos with one song in backgroud. I'm used to APP where when I will drag song and then drag video on ex. 40 second of song, it will give me that kind of "empty space" before. I like this function because it gives me flexibility to sync video with part of music that I like. As it is now the problem is that let's say there is a specific moment in song and I want specific part of video there, if I will change anything in project (make any video for ex. longer) then my whole idea of syncing stops to mach... How can I do this?

Have you actually solved your question? Bought FCP? Not necessary. Put a long clip of what you want to see in the 'gaps' between your video clips into the project timeline (It could be just black from backgrounds or a still clip of your own). Put the song under this and extend the video to the same duration as the song. You can now put your video clips above the 'background clip' as cutaways. You can position them wherever you want without affecting the song.
