My mac froze while playing a game using the Steam app and when I restarted the apple logo and wheel came up with vertical white bands then all went white followed by blue screen and finally light grey with a black section at the bottom with pattern of white square dots covering the screen. Has anyone had this happen or can help me out?

Try booting from the install DVD and repairing the startup disk via Disk Utility
Boot from the install DVD and reinstall the OS
I tried to reset the thPRAM to no avail. I can't open the CD carriage. Is there a manual way to do it? I' thinking it might be the video card, is that a possibility? Above is what the screen looks like.
