does anyone know how to work final cut pro x?? it crashed in a strange way and now it’s saying that my library “must be updated to work with this version of Final Cut Pro” even though it’s worked recently and won’t let me locate what it assumes to be missing files... i’m afraid i’m going to lose a year of progress in terms of editing, can someone help me figure this out?
Information, please! What version of FCP X? It looks like you have recently updated - maybe you have auto-update set in the App Store? (bad idea, IMHO).
If you updated (willingly or not), then the message about needing to update the library is perfectly normal.

Haven't updated final cut in forever.
Why would updating the library completely unlink every file?
Is there a method to mass-relink all the clips? They're located on an external hard drive under the same titles as they have in the FCP library.... There's just 70 of them or so. I can recover what I edited but not without a lot of pain

Yes, just select the library, File->Relink Files... and select the top level of the hard drive. FCP X should find them all.

It shouldn't, but then again if you did not update, there should be no need to update any library...
Seems like 203 files are tough to relink in a batch... Still verifying files for compatibility 10 minutes later...
Let's hope it relinks them ok.
Doesn't seem to be wanting to link them up, I've tried in smaller batches as well. Even directly linking to the folder that multiple are in! It seems like FCP won't let me do them batched....... Can I fix this?
Maybe the library got corrupted. You might want to try to open a recent backup of that library and see if that is ok.
File->Open Library->From Backup
Hmm. Seems like clicking "All" instead of "Missing" in the window for relinking clips is working better than having "missing" selected.. Let's see if this works for mass-batching or only 5 clips at a time.
Seems to only work for audio files... I guess I'll reconnect these clips one at a time then
