Image capture not working correctly

I have a Retina MBP (Mid 2012) running 10.10.3 and use an Epson NX430 printer. Image capture worked fine last week. Today, after I press the scan button, all I get is a message to 'Please select area to scan', however there is no image to select from. If I click the show details button, I get to a screen where I can get an 'overview image' and then have to select the image and THEN it will light up the scan button. Any idea why the extra steps when last week I could just put a paper document of my printer and just press scan? Any suggestions on how to get it back to how it was? I have not changed any settings in Image Capture.

I see that your Question has languished for some period of time without response. You have posted your issue in Using Apple Support Communities whose topic is 'How to use this forum software's interface, features and/or how to find what you wish'. It is a relatively low traffic and inappropriate forum for your problem. I will ask our Hosts to move it to " OS X Yosemite " where it may get a more rapid response from your fellow users.

In the meantime, you said it worked fine then not... what event occurred between then and now? Software upgrade/update? New App(s)? Hardware/cabling? ANYTHING?
