May 5, 2015 2:52 PM in response to SoGoodby Mayemac,Hi So Good,
I had some problems last week and I calibrated the phone following these instructions:
Calibrating your Apple Watch for improved Workout and Activity accuracy - Apple Support
BUT, today I started having issues again so I wonder if calibrating the phones needs to be done constantly or at least once per week.
Hope this helps.

May 5, 2015 8:42 PM in response to Mayemacby SoGood,Thanks for the suggestion. Not sure what you meant by 'calibrate'. The only item that one needs to calibrate is the compass on the iPhone. Was this what you were referring to?
Otherwise this morning the Watch has restarted its logging. No ideas what I have done apart from the reset and reinstall I did yesterday that has helped it. Right now, I have suspicion that it hasn't come back completely but intermittent logging. Will continue to monitor. Strongly suspect this is a software bug and hopefully Apple is already addressing. I further note that the Apple Watch app on the iPhone can 'freeze' and leave a black screen. Intermittent issue. Could have something to do with all these.

May 6, 2015 4:57 AM in response to SoGoodby Mayemac,Hi SoGood,
What I meant by calibrate is a different type of calibration that Apple is suggesting to do between your iPhone and watch if your activity app isn't tracking properly. Does the link for the instructions doesn't show in my first reply? This isn't related to the calibration of the iPhone compass. I should have explained that better when I replied the first time and let me know if you can see the link to Apple's support article. But, even when following their instructions you can still encounter problems with the app not logging activity and I think this could be another bug.
Great that it starting logging again but the intermittent logging will drive me nuts. I will have to re-calibrate mine today again (following Apple's suggestion) since yesterday it didn't track my workout regardless of the calibration that I did last week. If that doesn't work then I will reset and re-install.
Thanks!

May 6, 2015 5:41 AM in response to Mayemacby SoGood,Thanks! Sorry that I missed your earlier link. Will give it a try. Unfortunately to report, my Activity app has stopped logging again. It worked fine for 1/2 a day and it has been dead for 6 hours already. Something screwy!

May 6, 2015 7:16 AM in response to SoGoodby SP1980,Sort of the same problem here but with the Stand ring. Reminded me to stand and logged standing time up until yesterday. Now it logs nothing, never moves no matter if I'm standing or not and no reminders at all despite changing no settings. Move and Excersise are working fine. At the moment!!

May 6, 2015 7:57 AM in response to SoGoodby Winston Churchill,Exercise in the activity app is only credited with movement of the wrist, this means you invariably receive no credit for the treadmill or a static cycle machine. Setting up a cycle or indoor walk activity in the workout app won't help, the only activity in the workout app that will give you a credit in the activity app if you don't move your wrist is ‘other'.

May 6, 2015 2:27 PM in response to Winston Churchillby SoGood,Based on my two indoor run sessions, I believe it logs for this setting. Will continue to monitor.

May 12, 2015 6:49 AM in response to Mayemacby SoGood,OK, no luck after a calibration per suggestion through an outdoor walk. HR and duration were recorded but no calorie nor distance. Essentially a null exercise.
-
May 12, 2015 8:03 AM in response to SoGoodby Mayemac,That's not good! I re-calibrated last week and its recording everything again. I'm always worried that will stop recording the calories or distance any time. The main reason I bought this watch is to use it for fitness tracking purposes. I think this is going to be a continuous problem.

May 12, 2015 4:29 PM in response to Mayemacby SoGood,Oops, looks like I spoke too soon. Tried a further calibration outdoor walk this morning, extended to 30mins and the logging recommenced. Calorie, HR, duration and distance are all working (for now). Not sure if the stand function has returned as I haven't had a chance to monitor it during the day, fingers crossed. Further, wrist detection is still non-functional. Still quite odd.
In retrospect and given what the Watch needs (in terms of calibration), my early use of the Watch for 2 sessions of indoor treadmill running and 1 session of outdoor cycling may have 'messed up' its internal references for motion detection. So the message I'm getting now is, this Watch needs regular outdoor calibration for both walks and runs. A bit like training my spam email filter...
Same as you, I need to keep this working as I also bought this watch to compliment my sporting activities. Regular calibrations may just be the medicine.

Nov 3, 2015 6:20 PM in response to SoGoodby Ornge94,Have there been any long term solutions to this issue of the activity app not logging data? I just got an apple watch and on day 3 it stopped logging any activity even though I had it on my wrist all day. I have not tried to calibrate it (will try that) but I hope that is not required multiple times in order to keep the app working properly...
I am updating to version 2.0.1 hoping that resolves the issue.
iPhone 6 version 9.1, iwatch sport version 1.0.1
