Q: When I view a photo in 'Photos' it is correctly shown in Portrait rotation however when I upload it to eBay it is incorrectly rotated to Landscape, why is this happening?

This suggests to me that the 'amazing' new Photos app is keeping and using the orientation information separately from the actual photo. Is this the case?

If so, this is bad design because good imaging software should present the photo as it will be seen everywhere and not just in one specific app ('Photos'), or on one specific machine or type of machine (Macbook).

It is the photo that should have the orientation information stored in it not some bulky library specific to one machine or Apple account.

I will now have to dig out the photo from the depths of the Mac file system and edit it myself with GIMP which entirely defeats the purpose of having an expensive Macbook in order to make things more convenient and intuitive to use...

MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.7.5), null
