I have my Safari preferences set to load a particular site. It will not do this, instead loads a page of icons and to the left a list of my saved sites.
I am running Yosemite on a iMac late 2011.

Safari > Preferences > General
Select "New windows open with Homepage".
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
