Why are Android users getting duplicate messages when I send a text from my iPhone?

I've been texting a friend who has an android phone and he is getting duplicate messages from me. I have an iPhone 5s. This is the first occurance of this. Is anyone else have this happen and how do I fix it? I've tried rebooting. I turned off my AppleID for messaging. I am running iOS 8.3.

I understand that a friend is receiving duplicate SMS messages from you periodically. SMS, or text messaging, is a feature offered by your carrier. I would recommend reaching out to your carrier for assistance with this issue.
