Redownload everything after changing or not?

If you change your Apple ID, I understand that you don't lose your purchase history, but do you have to redownload all your apps/music/etc. or do the ones downloaded with the old Apple ID still work with the new Apple ID?

iPhone 6, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), iTunes 12.1.2

Changing your Apple ID does not require re-downloading of anything. However, you do need to be aware of the following:

If you are only changing the Apple ID on your existing Apple account, then you do not have to do anything special except to be sure to sign out of iCloud before changing the ID to the new email.

If you are creating a brand new Apple ID, then anytime you need to update apps purchased with the old ID, you will need to supply the password to that old ID in order to update. Purchases are forever tied to the Apple account that they were purchased under.
