windows partition not showing up after trying to delete using bootcamp

Hi all,

I have an early 2011 13" macbook pro (2.3 GHz i5) running OsX version 10.9.5.

When I first got this computer I had installed Windows 7 on half of my hard drive (for silly reasons) via Bootcamp. I recently tried to remove that Windows partition also via Bootcamp and partway through the process Bootcamp gave me the error message "This disk could not be partitioned, An error occurred while partitioning this disk." I then looked in my disk utility and it does not say anything about having a Windows partition, but it won't let me resize the Mac partition to the full size of the disk which I am pretty sure is 320 GB (I can't remember whether I got the 320 GB or 500 GB hard drive but I'm pretty sure it was the 320GB).

Is my only option left to backup to an external drive and reinstall via Internet Recovery?

Thanks in advance!
