Have 2 fire wire connecter types (4 pin

Mac mini (Late 2009)

Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

startup disk: MacIntoshHD

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB

OS: OZ X Yosemite 10.10.2

Can I connect two firewire types (800 & IEEE 1394 (6 pin) to a single firewire port?

Is there a conversion connecter type that will allow me to do this?

Or, if that is not possible, is there a conversion type that can connect a Firewire IEEE 1394 connector to a USB port on my MacMini (late 2009)?

There is only a single, "firewire 800" port on the mini, and I am using it to connect my external backup drive to the Mini.

I am currently using the USB attachment from the monitor, but would prefer the firewire adaptor.

FireWire (FW) is IEEE1384,

FW is available in 9 pin (FW 800), 6 pin (FW 400) and 4 pin (Subset of FW 400)

Ui can get adopter between FW 800 and FW 400 and cable with FW 400 on one end and FW 400 on the other

Thanks for you quick reply, Illaass.

What I need to know is, whether there is a such a thing as a converter that will take an FW800 and FW400 (in other words, two, or more, different Fire Wire connection types) on one end, with a cable connecting to a single port on the computer-like a multi-port USB connector?

FireWire has become somewhat dated, so new FW Hubs are expensive and/or hard to find.

You best bet is to get something like an empty MiniStack that has multiple FW port and connect your other FW devices thru it.

For example, the following FW Hubs

are more expensive the an empty MiniStack that can be fitted with the HD of your choosing.
