Q: public google calendar not displaying events with iWeb HTML widget

Hello Apple Community,

I have a public google calendar, which displayed wonderfully in Mavericks, using iWeb's HTML widget.  I would ftp it to the website, and it would display the events that were present and listed.

However, after going to Yosemite, the same HTML widget is not displaying the public google calendar's events.  It display's the name of the calendar, as it is written into the google calendar itself.  But none of the events.  I see the events in iCal.  I see the events on the google calendar page.  I have refreshed and used the custom HTML button in google, to make sure I have an accurate HTML.

But absolutely no events display at all.  I did a search and it seems that past issues in past years have occurred, and on the web most of the problems list Microsoft problems and solutions but nothing for iWeb, and the public calendar.

Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated, as the public calendar we use to update the homeless on local meal programs, dates and times.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), Yosemite

It could possibly be that nobody now has this issue with iWeb.

iWeb has not been supported for at least the last 3 years and has not been updated for 6 years, so most people have moved on from iWeb to other web development software such as EverWeb.

I moved on from iWeb a long time ago to other software.  Take a look at all the alternative software available.

It could be that.  But its also a tinge of planned obsolescence?  or coded obsolescence?  LOL

Yah I guess I'm in that tiny bracket of people who are still in iWeb.

I haven't tried ever web.  I've seen others post about it.  I think I have a copy of dreamweaver, and Flux.  I played around with Flux but it doesn't look anything like I'm used to and gave up fairly quickly.  Hahaha.  Dreamweaver, I go to the entry screen and say whah.

I mean the learning curve alone, would render me without the ability to import the cal into the page, because I would be lost in a frozen tundra.

But what am I saying to you all.  You all have moved on with life.  I can't believe I bought the iLife dream.  And have a useless product, again.

Dreamweaver and Flux are a whole different kettle of fish to iWeb and EverWeb.

Both Dreamweaver and Flux have a massive learning curve, whereas EverWeb is very very like iWeb and it has been designed to be so that iWeb users can transfer to it with minimal difficulty.

You can easily embed a Google calendar in EverWeb with no difficulties at all and if you have problems, then EverWeb have very good support forums where you can ask questions and will get a reply within hours.

Unfortunately, Apple are NOT and never have been a software company and iWeb was only developed because of dot Mac and then latterly MobileMe.  Once MobileMe went, that really spelled the end of iWeb.  A lot of applications then become cloud based and that it what Apple did with iCloud, but there was then no need for web hosting, hence, no need for support of iWeb.

The difference with EverWeb is that Rage Software, as you can tell from the name is a software company and they specialise in software and EverWeb is very like iWeb, so no learning curve and it is being actively developed all the time - now in 1.8 beta before it is released and it is being improved and new features are being added all the time.

There is already support for drop down menus, PayPal, photo galleries, a contact form and lots more from inside the application and not having to go outside, as you had to do with iWeb.

Take a look and see and you will find it easier to use than either Dreamweaver or Flux.

Unfortunately, if you purchase software from non software companies, then you run the risk of it being dropped and becoming unsupported when things move on.
