What do you mean by "unable to continue"?
Do you get an error message? (What error message?)
Does your import app crash or freeze? (What app? What type of crash or freeze?)
Does your entire system crash or freeze?
Something else?
The error message is as follows; Com.apple.Imagecapture.core.error
the pictures on the camera will not transfer to the compute
The computer does not crash or freezer
Is there a code number after "com.apple.Imagecapture.core.error"? Apple doesn't publish the meaning of every code number, but it can help match your problem with reports from others.
The one thing that came to mind when you mentioned 10,000 pictures was the possibility of a name collision if you are importing all these files into a single folder. (Cameras often name photos like IMG_1234 or dscn9876 and the count wraps after 10,000 photos if not reset earlier.)
The wingow: Unreadable file. this file is in a unrecognized format.
It lists all of the pictures: 100.5509.jpg and continues to list all of the photos in order
I thought you said that your camera uses PDF format for its files, but the file name you quote is for JPEG format (.jpg).
Are you importing directly from the camera via USB or from a memory card inserted in a memory card slot or reader?
directly via USB
the 100.5509.jpg is the info next to the unreadable file
Can you tell us what diagnostic or repair steps you have already tried? (reconnect, reboot, reset, reinstall, etc.)
It is difficult to guess from what you have told us whether the problem lies in the camera/memory card or the computer. Do you have a friend who would let you try offloading the pictures to a different computer? If it works, you can get the current crop of pictures and then try to troubleshoot your computer further. If it fails, you may need to pursue the problem in a Kodak support forum.
I have a Mac Book Pro and a Mac desk top and the same applies to both computers, not able to download pictures to I-photo, does Power PC mean anything, I recall seeing something in the down load process that Power PC is no longer supported on the program. I am currently running the OSX Yosemite 10.10.3...
I also have the original Kodak EasyShare software, I uninstalled the original and tries to download the same CD and it is not supported
Aha! Was your upgrade to OS X Yosemite (10.10.3) recent and from a relatively old version of Mac OS X? Is that when the problem started?
"Power PC" was the kind of processor chip that Apple used in Macs before it switched to Intel processors. The switchover started in 2006. The two types of processor required different programming. To ease the transition, Apple licensed some clever code named "Rosetta" that allowed an Intel processor to emulate a Power PC processor (but run more slowly), but the license expired with Mac OS X 10.6 ("Snow Leopard") and could not be renewed. Mac OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later releases do not include Rosetta (or the system code to support it), so they cannot run programs coded only for Power PC. (Some programs were available with both Power PC and Intel code in the same package; they could still run.)
It sounds like EasyShare was (or at least included) Power PC-only code and that is now interfering with access to pictures on your camera. You should check with Kodak to see if they have a modern version of that package, or if you can uninstall it completely and still access your camera's contents.
