Track pan suddenly stopped working in Logic 9 and X

I have been using the Logic programs for close to five years now and have never had an issue with panning from left to right with both stereo and mono tracks... until last night. For some reason now, when I pan a track to either left or right, it merely lowers the volume coming out of both monitors. I tried rebooting my Saffire Pro 40 along with remounting the drivers etc.... I have tried both Logic 9 and X and its the same story. Even when I disconnect everything so its only Logic and the computer, I have the same issue with the internal speakers. I have also tried loading older tracks that i know for a fact the panning worked on. Is it possible the most resent update had some bugs or something? I am lost on this one.
