What do I do if my ipod touch is stuck on the recovery screen?

While updating my ipod touch it gave an error and became stuck on the recovery screen (shows the itunes symbol with the USB cable below it). My itunes software now won't recognize the device and doing a reset has not resolved the issue.

I have tried another ipod we have and it connects and is recognized by my software so I am assuming it is a device issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try another cable unless you used the same cable on the connecting iPod

- Try on another computer

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
