Faces not allowing me to find faces.

In iPhoto I haven't been able to add faces within the app. I have tried to click the "add face" option from the info toolbar on the side, but it has not worked. I have also tried it in full screen more, but it will not allow me to add faces either. Does anyone know how I can go about fixing this issue?
