Q: iPhone 6 plus intermittent unresponsive screen

So a couple days ago, my iPhone 6+ began having intermittent screen responsiveness. First time, I received a phone call and couldn't answer it because the swipe wouldn't work. I turned it off and back on with no luck. I reset it and that fixed it. That was the only issue that day. I the last few days it's becoming more frequent. Today alone I've had to reset it eight times.

What it's doing;

  • touch screen is unresponsive to touch entirely.
  • touch screen responds after a delay
  • I tap an app icon and the app two rows up opens instead.
  • from loch screen-can't answer phone calls or notifications.

Sometimes it just leave it alone and come back to it and it's fine. Sometimes I leave it alone and come back with same result and I have to reset it. Sometimes I reset it once and trying to unlock with touchscreen (because touch ID doesn't work after reset) doesn't work so I reset it twice. It has worked after the second time, so far.

The phone is in perfect condition. Never been dropped. Was updated to 8.3 the day it was released so the issue didn't arise immediately after an update.

Anyone having these issues?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.3

My 6+ is starting to get grey/blue lines on the right side of the screen. Luckily, my warranty is still in place for the next 10 days. Made an appointment for this week to get it fixed or replaced. I seem to get this issue after I take my phone out of my pocket. There is no clear signs of bending but if I push on the back of the phone, I can get the lines to reappear and disappear. I hope they just replace my phone outright.

I think I have found the solution.

    I Had the following problems:

    - grey/white flickering horizontally at top of screen

    - unresponsive screen for up to 30 seconds long before returning to function

    - gradual worsening as time went on

    My solution:

Go to SETTINGS > GENERAL >

TURN OFF AUTO BRIGHTNESS or TURN BRIGHTNESS RIGHT DOWN TO LOW - MEDIUM.

By doing this my phone went from flickering/freezing every minute to NO more flickering / freezing issues.

ITs been 30 minutes and it's still gone.

IM not sure how long this will last hopedully forever!

I am having the exact same problem. I have a 64GB Silver 6 Plus. This problem started last week and would show up every once in a while, but now it seems to be happening every time I open my phone.

TThis is not a software problem. I have been beta testing iOS9 all summer. It's hardware related and you need to take your phone in

I Pre-ordered my IPhone 6 Plus at launch. My warranty expires the 24 so make sure you get an appointment scheduled soon at the Apple Store.

I'm having the same issue, and have a genius bar appointment set for Friday, but it's intermittent enough that I'm afraid I won't be able to replicate the problem when I'm at the apple store.

    Think they'll still fix it?

Or will I need to show them the video I took of me having this problem?

MMine started like that and now it's gotten worse. I have my appointment after work tomorrow and since I'm so close to end of warranty I want a new phone. I'll let you know how it goes.  it started with lines on the screen and now my sound and Touch ID are going wonky. Never had problems like this and I've had every iPhone except the original and 5.

So it would seem the fault is not the screen but the light sensor? i to am having this issue and have tried cats fix, if this does solve it i will be getting the light sensor replaced and keep you updated.

Had my appointment yesterday afternoon and wouldn't you know it, my screen was acting like a well behaved iPhone. Told the guy I swear that it happens all the time and starting to have problems with my volume and Touch ID. He puts the info in his iPad and says no problem and replaced my iPhone. I was able to redownload the iOS 9 public beta profile and get 9.1 back on and restore from iCloud. super easy and best part is my warranty is for 90 days.

Well not even a week later and my replacement iPhone 6 plus is acting up. Unresponsive screen randomly started on Sunday. Earliest appointment for the Apple store is on Thursday. I have restored it to iOS 9.0 (I have been on 9.1 public beta 1) thinking maybe it's a software issue. Having a hard time getting thru setup just to get to the homescreen. Now I have lines going horizontally across the top and touch screen not working. I am beyond angry at this point. I even bought a $30 Tech 21 screen protector while I was there last week. I bet they won't comp me a new one.

Bummer man. I Got a new phone from the Apple Store today. Here's hoping mine doesn't act up after a week too. I wonder then if it really is an app or something that is goofing everything up? Or just a major hardware flaw

Same issues as me, mate. Same day I received my replacement I started having issues again. I had the original iPhone 6 Plus 128 GB 10 months, no issues, then suddenly lots of flickering at the top, screen freezing, apps opening randomly, etc. I re-stored to factory settings, erased all data, even created a new iCloud account....had same issues, so request a new phone thru my Apple Care plan. Then like I said, the replacement started having same issues. I'm about to get a 2nd replacement now a week after the 1st replacement....I've done all kinds of things re-store wise, went to an official Apple servicer, talked to several Apple agents over the phone, etc....I'm ******. Had iPhones for like 10 years and never had issues.

I even just deleted and re-stored again yesterday apps involved in the Apple Malware hack (I had 2 of the apps listed on Mashable). I don't think they caused the issues though, but after the deletion and re-store, still had flickering.

Sadly....after 10 years of being an Apple fanatic (laptops, TV, iPhones, etc), I looked at Samsung Galaxys this past weekend :-( I just travel way too much and need a reliable state-of-the-art smart phone for so many different things these days....it's highly beneficial.
