Q: iPhone 6 plus intermittent unresponsive screen

So a couple days ago, my iPhone 6+ began having intermittent screen responsiveness. First time, I received a phone call and couldn't answer it because the swipe wouldn't work. I turned it off and back on with no luck. I reset it and that fixed it. That was the only issue that day. I the last few days it's becoming more frequent. Today alone I've had to reset it eight times.

What it's doing;

  • touch screen is unresponsive to touch entirely.
  • touch screen responds after a delay
  • I tap an app icon and the app two rows up opens instead.
  • from loch screen-can't answer phone calls or notifications.

Sometimes it just leave it alone and come back to it and it's fine. Sometimes I leave it alone and come back with same result and I have to reset it. Sometimes I reset it once and trying to unlock with touchscreen (because touch ID doesn't work after reset) doesn't work so I reset it twice. It has worked after the second time, so far.

The phone is in perfect condition. Never been dropped. Was updated to 8.3 the day it was released so the issue didn't arise immediately after an update.

Anyone having these issues?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.3

What are you, Captain Obvious? Do you feel compelled to tell people things they already know to help yourself sleep at night? What was the purpose of such an idiotic response?

Amazing. Such helpful advice that I couldn't live without. Do you have any other gems of wisdom to share with me? Perhaps that I should look both ways before crossing the road? Or maybe you'd actually like to give actual advice in response to the topic at hand?

I now have about 12 6 Pluses with this issue in my possession and 1 6(touch freezes but no gray bars).  The gray bars don't have to appear to have the touch freezing issue.  On some phones with only a mild problem, you can go a few weeks without the issue recurring.  Also, the phone is not a solid rubber piece.  You can't bend the metal frame back into place easily and then expect all the internal components to reattach in the same position as a new phone.  Also, this isn't only present in bent phones.  I have 12 of them.  I plan on sending them in to get them fixed, so I will provide an update in about a month if the repair is feasible such as a)if it works on most phones and b)if it lasts at all.

C Obvious isn't familiar with the old saying, "pot calling the kettle black".

Just to give an update on my situation in case it might help others, I took it into an  repair shop to get it looked at. They took it in the back and apparently removed the screen to disconnect the cable and reconnect them. That has fixed the issues so far. He advised that it might happen again if the cable is loose, to which I would be advised to send it in for a repair or get a replacement.

I Have a similar touch screen issue. Screen becomes completely unresponsive, although all features work.

Smounds like a manufacturers defect to me!

Does anyone know if this issue affects the iPhone 6S Plus as well, or is it primarily just the iPhone 6 Plus?

I tried the approach provided to VickyFromLauel and it still has the same issue.  I then looked at the phone to see if it is bent as was RIP69's observation and noticed that it was slightly bowed away from the screen.  Strange thing is I have had this phone in an Otterbox case since purchased it to protect it from bending in my pocket.

I then tried flexing it the other way and it directly corrected the problem.   Unfortunately I have to hold it flexed to use the touch screen now.  In my opinion iPhones are too delicate for active people with children.

I have the unresponsive screen issue as well as sometimes when I leave the phone unlocked, apps will open up on their own, icons, web links etc click on their own.

Once it opened FaceTime and called one of my contacts, while I was asleep middle of the night.

Safari browser will open on its own and randomly open a website from the history or bookmarks.

or sometimes even the keypad appears and random text gets typed in the oprn app.

Yes, believing that someone posting something on YouTube is evidence of anything is a problem.

No one is denying that some people have issues with their phones. Do most people? No, of course not.
