Q: iPhone 6 plus intermittent unresponsive screen

So a couple days ago, my iPhone 6+ began having intermittent screen responsiveness. First time, I received a phone call and couldn't answer it because the swipe wouldn't work. I turned it off and back on with no luck. I reset it and that fixed it. That was the only issue that day. I the last few days it's becoming more frequent. Today alone I've had to reset it eight times.

What it's doing;

  • touch screen is unresponsive to touch entirely.
  • touch screen responds after a delay
  • I tap an app icon and the app two rows up opens instead.
  • from loch screen-can't answer phone calls or notifications.

Sometimes it just leave it alone and come back to it and it's fine. Sometimes I leave it alone and come back with same result and I have to reset it. Sometimes I reset it once and trying to unlock with touchscreen (because touch ID doesn't work after reset) doesn't work so I reset it twice. It has worked after the second time, so far.

The phone is in perfect condition. Never been dropped. Was updated to 8.3 the day it was released so the issue didn't arise immediately after an update.

Anyone having these issues?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.3

You may or you may not get a free one. Most likely you're looking at $329 for a replacement unless you have AppleCare or can somehow convince the people at the Apple Store to give you a new one.

I was a few days out of warranty when I had my Apple Store appointment, but I called them to explain the issue the day my warranty expired so they honored it and gave me one for free. Sadly, I'm not confident you'll have the same experience, even though it's very clear Apple's faulty hardware is to blame for this issue.

I have the same issue. At first I try to reset Device, Sometime work and sometime still the same. I don't know how to resolved it, I try to find the solution in Internet but it still no solution. One day touch screen became unresponsive again and I see the screen is not clean, I lock the screen and I try to clean the screen, and then I push the power button a few time and then it work normally.

         - It seem the sensitive touch of iPhone 6/ 6 plus is too sensitive, So if the screen is not clean it will be freeze or Unresponsive.

If anyone else know the solution, Please reply.

So last night, I went ahead and upgraded to 9.1 Beta 2, and then did a full restore of my phone. I'm crossing my fingers that even though it appeared to be a hardware issue as many have stated, the problem hasn't happened to me one time since then. I'll keep everyone posted.

I installed this Beta update. lines still there. At this point the line had been randomly taking up a fourth of my screen and its happening at least once every 20minutes or so. Apple is sending me a second replacement phone... but as a fluke I delete my chrome browser app cause i noticed it getting worse when i would open it to search. I have not seen the line since I deleted the app. Hoping it stays that way.

I have the same problem, all my apps closed in 1 sec and screen is black. I updated ios9.0.1 and it is getting worse. I tried to book an appointment to apple store and it doesn't take any appointment. this beta version shouldn't be release to public unless all tested. Especially for those people who trusted apple. Do they care about their users? Every time apple wanted to launch new phone, a new release update launch and those apple wanted like me update as I trusted them so bad. Now I am stuck with all the problems and frustrations with this **** 6P. I have to restart my phone and it helps for 10 minutes and here it goes again, freezing up the screen and close the app that I want to use. This is frustrating and there is no support to downgrade to the previous ios instructions. I have to find the non-legit websites, seeking for help. KCUF this ios9.0.1 or 9. >:(

Please for god shake, give us some instructions to downgrade. I am begging you freak! Spent over $900 for piece of crab...

    BLUF, Samsung here I come.

YYou should t use betas on your primary device and if you read the things you agreed to, you would know that. I've beta tested the past 4 iOS and just live with the issues and know they get better and fixed each update. I made my appointment on my computer. I got my second replacement iPhone yesterday and they gave me a new screen protector since I just bought it when I got replacement 1.

I just worked out one way to fix the problem. I updated my IP 6 to IOS 9.0.1 and switched off the 24 hour time option(general----time and date----24 hour time). The magic thing happened this time. The reason why I found this is: I updated my phone, but the unresponsive bug still agitated me. Then, I was trying to get the settings to my preference. When I activated the 24 hour time, the the screen turned to unresponsive. Therefore, I realized that would be the culprit. I hope it would be helpful to guys getting same problems, but I am not sure the method is applicable universally. Good luck, anyway.

I am having the same problems. The grey lines at the screen appear and the phone becomes unresponsive to touch (iPhone 6 plus). I purchased the phone in late November, and I'm going to bring to the Apple Store to see what happens.

I used the "force restart" method and my IPhone started working properly again. Thx

I have been experiencing the same problems as many posters.

Flickering screen like lightening flashes across the top of the screen and sometimes the whole top third of the screen.

Screen intermittently unresponsive and apps or folders were opening randomly by themselves.

This was with my 11 month old 6+.  Restore, iOS9 update, reset setting etc all failed to improve things. (Always had glass screen protector, heavy duty Spigen case and never been near water; not even a mark on the phone!)

Apple replaced it a week ago. 'Very rare' she (Apple Genius) said in the Brisbane Apple Store. 'Very few similar problems' she said.

So I've had this phone for 8 days and now this new iP6+ is DOING THE SAME THING!

I took a day off work on a Saturday (a 12 hour shift) to get the 1st available appointment - that cost me $840 in lost wages, to get the replacement.

Apple want me to go in again. I'm not taking more time off work. So now they want to charge my CC to do a mail replacement (refunded when they receive my crappy ip6+ back) but I also have a 6s on order for my daughter so the two $1400 charges will more than max out my $2k credit card limit.

I'M NOT HAPPY APPLE!  You should be sending me your 2nd replacement iphone 6+ without withholding funds from my credit card which may delay my daughters 6s which she deserves as she is an angel.  You've already cost me $840 in lost wages sorting out this issue and the same thing has happened again within a week with a supposed 'new' 6+.

This is definitely a hardware problem. Whenever the touch stops responding and the flickering occurs, I push down on the upper left corner to try to get whatever part to connect for the conductivity to occur. it seems that fixes the problem temporarily.

IM not 100% sure how the screen is attached. I assume by soddering. I think apple uses two screen suppliers. The two I had were the ones with the problem. 3rd phone is working great so far. Fingers crossed

Here's my uploaded video documenting the problem. The iPhone 6 Plus touch is not responsive. But when I pinch really hard at the top, the response is normal again.
