Q: iPhone 6 plus intermittent unresponsive screen

So a couple days ago, my iPhone 6+ began having intermittent screen responsiveness. First time, I received a phone call and couldn't answer it because the swipe wouldn't work. I turned it off and back on with no luck. I reset it and that fixed it. That was the only issue that day. I the last few days it's becoming more frequent. Today alone I've had to reset it eight times.

What it's doing;

  • touch screen is unresponsive to touch entirely.
  • touch screen responds after a delay
  • I tap an app icon and the app two rows up opens instead.
  • from loch screen-can't answer phone calls or notifications.

Sometimes it just leave it alone and come back to it and it's fine. Sometimes I leave it alone and come back with same result and I have to reset it. Sometimes I reset it once and trying to unlock with touchscreen (because touch ID doesn't work after reset) doesn't work so I reset it twice. It has worked after the second time, so far.

The phone is in perfect condition. Never been dropped. Was updated to 8.3 the day it was released so the issue didn't arise immediately after an update.

Anyone having these issues?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.3

My iPhone behaves exactly the same right after upgrading to IOS9 . This is the second iPhone I have getting broken in past 6 months. i think the best fix is to quit using apple products. I've already listed my phone on eBay ... very disappointed with apple experience lately

my Phone is not under guaranty anymore so i presume this is Apple way of sending you a bug in order to upgrade your device when getting oldish

What carrier is everyone on? I am on at&t. What I just recently noticed is that my phone seems to become unresponsive more frequent when I am around big crowds such as a football game. It still happens all the time but not as frequent when I'm not around big crowds.Anyone else noticed this?

I still haven't noticed any lines on the top of my phone when the screen becomes unresponsive. Also.. sometimes when the screen becomes unresponsive. It freaks out and starts acting as if someone is pressing stuff on the screen. It jumps all over place. Its like the sensors that recognizes touch malfunctions and thinks someone is touching it. Anyone having this issue when the screen becomes unresponsive?

WWhen you're around big crowds, say a football game where more than likely everyone has a cellphone fighting for usage of the cell towers that you are also using. This ***** up bandwidth. That's why more often you will see mobile towers setup by Verizon and AT&T and big events to help offload the bandwidth. You have a hardware issue with your phone. There's nothing you can do software wise to fix it. Take it into Apple for a replacement.

    Yes,

have the same problem. Ive upgrade to IOS 9 and start having this responsive touchscreen issue. I've been into a gsm service today, had my phone checked and I was told that is a software problem and they cannot sort it out.

Off course apple doesn't mind leaving its customers experiencing this issue on hundred pound worth devices which are now ...usless

It's a hardware issue, no matter how many times you restore, update, reset your phone it will not resolve the issue.

I went through 5 replacement handsets before I got one that was working correctly.

Your fix did not work for me.

I get my 2nd replacement in two days. The 1st replacement has lasted a week.

If the 2nd one stuffs up, I expect a full refund!

It barely works for me either, I think over time it's harder to push down to connect. I have to get this iPhone 6 plus replaced.

Well, after making my appointment and going in, I was able to start describing the problem, and without hesitation, the guy said "I know exactly what it is". Once the tech came over, he proceeded to give me a brand new phone and said it was a motherboard issue that happens on 6 plus handsets. I asked him about this potentially happening again, and he said he thought the problem was fixed on the newer versions of the iPhone 6 plus. Either way, I have a new phone and I'm happy!

Yes, it was still under warranty. I think it's $329 if it isn't.

Hey all. I had the same problem happen to me tonight and I might have a solution. I solved the problem by pressing really hard on the screen a few times. This resulted in the touch screen functioning normally. I was expecting the problem to come back, but so far so good. I hope this helps.

So the problem came back as expected. Pressing hard on the upper portion on the screen made it functional again. This is not a permanent solution after all. This is really bad.
