Q: iPhone 6 plus intermittent unresponsive screen

So a couple days ago, my iPhone 6+ began having intermittent screen responsiveness. First time, I received a phone call and couldn't answer it because the swipe wouldn't work. I turned it off and back on with no luck. I reset it and that fixed it. That was the only issue that day. I the last few days it's becoming more frequent. Today alone I've had to reset it eight times.

What it's doing;

  • touch screen is unresponsive to touch entirely.
  • touch screen responds after a delay
  • I tap an app icon and the app two rows up opens instead.
  • from loch screen-can't answer phone calls or notifications.

Sometimes it just leave it alone and come back to it and it's fine. Sometimes I leave it alone and come back with same result and I have to reset it. Sometimes I reset it once and trying to unlock with touchscreen (because touch ID doesn't work after reset) doesn't work so I reset it twice. It has worked after the second time, so far.

The phone is in perfect condition. Never been dropped. Was updated to 8.3 the day it was released so the issue didn't arise immediately after an update.

Anyone having these issues?

strange that Apple is censoring or trying their best to hush this up...

Where is this "hush up" you are talking about? There are almost 900 posts about it in this thread alone, and several other threads also. If they were hushing it up the whole thread would be gone.

Apple's hosts remove posts that violate TOU. Period. The do not remove posts simply because they are critical of Apple. A reading of only part of this thread (or hundreds of other threads) would make that clear. When Apple removes your post they tell you why. Just read their emails. And note that 900 posts were NOT removed.

900 posts w/of a relevant solution. Speak of the actual cause of the problem and it's deleted in minutes

Jamie....the censorship is in the solution to the problem, not in the denial of the problem. Apple would rather you fork over $300 and have the same problem in a day or year than the consumer to spend $100 to have a long lasting quality phone and great experience. This new Apple has this investor worried.

The first time this happened to my iPhone 6+ 128G, the Apple Store replaced the screen twice hoping that would fix it, but it did not. They then replaced the phone and I was happy for about 6 months. Then it happened again and I went back to the Apple Store. With less than 2 months left on the warranty, they replaced my iPhone again and told me to make sure NOT to put it in my back pocket. I have been much more careful with my third iPhone 6+, knowing that the warranty was expiring, and it lasted about 9 months before the touchscreen became intermittent. It is now to the point that only way to make it function is to twist the frame one way or the other every few minutes of use. The only way to receive a call is to use a Bluetooth adapter, because it will go to voice mail before you can get the touchscreen working. It's maddening, especially considering how much I paid for this thing. I bought an iPhone 6 for my wife at the same time and she has never had any trouble with it. This is clearly a defect that Apple needs to address. For the first time ever, I'm considering breaking away from the Apple ecosystem. I've bought dozens of iPhones, iPods, and iPads over the years for my family and they have been handed down year after year as we get the newer devices. That stops with the 6+ unless Apple mans up and takes care of this.

    Hi All,

I started having this issue also, I think it started happening after I drop my iPhone a few weeks ago, I tried all of the "fixes" in this thread and still happening.

Looks like I am going to have to buy the new iPhone 7.

We went to the Apple Store in the Arden fair mall in Sacramento Ca. With this touch disease issue. The employees pretended that they have not seen this issue before at the beginning of the visit...they never took the phone to do a diagnostic test on it and finally told us that our only option was to pay for a refurbished phone. The employes and manager admitted that the my phone which was in near perfect condition could not be fixed because the issue was internal and later revealed that they have seen the issue a lot so no further diagnosis was needed. I will never buy another apple product again especially a new product. apple has lost my trust and I feel completely ripped off. I hope people should think twice before running to purchase any new apple product without knowing how many years they last without issues. I believe that everyone else who is encountering this issue needs to stand up and complain until this problem is taken care of.

I can add my iphone 6 plus to the growing list. My issues started when I swapped my tired looking apple case for a logitech case. Looking at this thread and on tech sites looks like 'bendgate' is a wider issue than previously thought.

The annoying thing about this is that I used cases in an attempt to avoid bending the phone. In the nearly 2 years I have had the phone I have swapped the case twice. First time resulted in a cracked screen while testing cases in the apple store and the last time seems to have resulted in chips breaking their solder and coming lose from the logic board.

Paying over £200 pounds to replace a logic board with the very same root issue doesn't seem like a smart use of money. I would be tempted to muddle through until November but if apple refuse to acknowledge (even internally) the structural issue then surely the face-lifted 7 will suffer the same issue.

This is seriously making me consider an alternative to an iphone which, certainly for me, would be real shame. If I am not using an iphone then that puts my iMac, macbook, ipad and apple tv (already underfire due to lack of amazon prime) in doubt when I come to refresh those over the next few years.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 6+ 64 gig. The phone has worked great for over a year (now out of warranty) then I started to have issues with the touch screen not working (intermittent). I found that turning the phone off and on would make the phone work. I got so frustrated I took the phone to the Apple store. The "genius" reset my phone and reloaded the software from one of their computers (he claimed it was a software issue) the phone still had the same problem. He took the phone in the back office and came out to advise me my phone hadn't suffered any water damage or drops but he didn't know what was wrong with it. He said because the phone was out of warranty his only suggestion was purchase a new "refurbished" phone for $329.00. The "Apple Genius" claimed that he hadn't seen this issue before now the internet is full of articles about this exact same issue. I am almost ready to trade this phone in for a Samsung Galaxy just to get back at Apple and their horrible customer service.  They can't make a phone to work for 2 years? My phone hasn't been abused and I am really angry at the way Apple is treating their customers!

I am surprised they told you they had seen this problem a lot. The Apple Store in Novi Michigan claimed they hadn't seen the problem before. They ran their diagnostics and claimed my phone should be working perfectly. They tried resetting my phone then reloading the software from one of their computers. Guess what still the same issue.

Their solution was purchase a new refurbished phone for $329.00!

I have the exact same issues with my iPhone 6+. I have found if I turn it off and on the touchscreen will start working again. I think this is a hardware issue with the phones. It appears the only solution if your phone is out of warranty is to purchase a new refurbished phone for $329.00

VW only maned up after the US Government forced the issue. I don't Apple will do anything about  the issue till the government steps in. I have the iPhone 6+ 64 gig's I bought thinking it would last several years too no such luck mine lasted about 16 mths. I refused to pay $329.00 for a "new refurbished" phone mine should have lasted at least 2 years with no abuse.

I got 9 months and a refurbished that was worse than what I sent in.  Along with a canceled warranty because the refurbished was repaired incorrectly.

I'm on the 5th 6plus the Apple Store was aware of the problem being hardware, I was about to trade it in for the new 6se which is the old style design 4 inch display hoping it would be more reliable, but they would only give me a $250 gift card for a phone I paid over $800  15 months ago, but  still have Apple Care until 1/2017 so I'll just keep getting replacements until than.My wife's 6plus hasn't had any problems and she's dropped it several times.

Thank you for the information. I just sent a feedback form. I agree for the first time I am ready to buy an Android just to get back at Apple.
