If you just bought it (less than 14 days) take it back for a refund, no need to have hate in your daily life. PC's are a cheap item.

uunfortunately I've had it longer than that. It sat in the box for a couple of weeks before I set it up.

thought it would be a breeze but to be honest I absolutely hate it

This is true. It is also true that there is "no point" in posting to a tech support site, if you are unwilling to actually provide details. However, if your point was to get it off your chest, well done.

Then why don't you tell us some detail regarding your problem. Like who provides your mail, what you did to set it up etc.

If you bought this Mac from Apple you have 90 days of free phone support.

    Why don't you use this?

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

i have outlined  the problem in another post Thanks

i just added email accounts, btinternet (yahoo) and cloud

pass words are correct and it appears they are active

worked for a time then stopped

have had this problem since I started using it

i did read that this was a common fault with Mavericks but as I am unfamiliar with the Mac I'm struggling with it

    thanks

    That conveys virtually no information.

What are the server settings you are using on your Mac in order to access BT email

Was this account auto setup (by Mail) or did you manually enter the configuration

    Start there.

How “recent” is "just purchased" if it sat in the box for weeks?

You haven’t said anything that would help anyone point to the possible solution.

The implication is that its a new machine.

You have phone support & chat support possible for the 90 days as MichaelPM posted.

While you’ve got it, I suppose it would make sense to use the service & get up to speed on the machine.

You have an iPad as well as a Mac? Desktop, or laptop?

Is the machine really new, or bought used?

Did you connect via ethernet, or are you counting on wireless?

Have you tried switching to/from ethernet or wireless, to see if there’s a change?

And is it one of BT's awful series 4 hubs, or the older series 3 which had less problems than its successor. (which has been linked to mail issues in this forum)

But ... email setup first I think.

I'M sorry but I am not very technical and am really unfamiliar with the terminology.

I can tell you it was  auto set up if that helps

    thanks
