What's the most efficient way to back up Pages and Numbers documents on my iPad? I want a separate backup so that if I delete a file by mistake I can find it in a backup.
I use iCloud and iCloud Drive that syncs files and I thought there must be a better way than emailing files to myself to create regular backups?
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
Use Time Machine, that is what it is designed for. iCloud is not a backup, Time Machine is.

I have Time machine but can't see any documents I created in Pages or Numbers - an suggestions which older they could be in?
Use iTunes file sharing to transfer the documents to your Mac:
The documents can be found at this address: ~/library/mobile documents/
It's a hidden folder, to get there click on the Go menu and paste the path above into the Go to Folder dialog box, copy and paste the entire line including the ~
