I can't sync contacts from iPhone to MacBook?

Hi,

I have a new MacBook air, and am also using an iPhone 6. I have iCloud turned on on all devices, and Contacts SHOULD be synced to iCloud, but are not showing up in contacts on my computer. I have literally tried all means of syncing contacts, both in iCloud settings on both phone and MacBook, as well as in contacts settings. For what it's worth, my notes also aren't showing up on my MacBook even though they are also supposedly synced. Am I missing something?
