Jul 20, 2015 1:30 PM in response to anpatiby dewyT,My OS is the latest 1.0.1 and I stand almost all the time in the kitchen, preparing food and yet my watch tells me to stand too. Cooking & washing involves movement on my arm for sure, but the watch still cannot tell that I am standing sometimes. It is terribly frustrating since I am definitely on my feet most of the day.

Aug 3, 2015 5:52 AM in response to dewyTby Jeff Strobel,The only thing the sensors are apparently measuring is if you hand is hanging straight down. It really has nothing to do with standing. Try hanging your hand down for about a minute and shaking your wrist a couple of times. This works if you're sitting or even laying down.

So does it not register if you don't stand up right when it tells you to? I got the reminder about 20 minutes ago, but I was right in the middle of doing something with work that I couldn't stop doing at that moment. But, as soon as I finished and was able to stand up and walk around (about 10 minutes later, but after the notification was gone), I didn't get credit for standing up.
I'm sorry, Apple, but sometimes we're doing something that we can't stop when you say "jump!" Sometimes we're working or in the car or doing something, but we'll do our "hourly stand" as soon as we're able to.
I feel cheated that I didn't get credit for standing and walking around when I actually did. Yeah, I know my body still got the credit, and I did some good for my health, but I'm trying to get that dang ring to show it.
The OP of this thread is standing all the time and isn't getting credit for it. I understand the reasoning behind that one in that the Watch doesn't see that he/she is already standing. But, still......WE WANT OUR RINGS!

Jan 21, 2016 2:46 PM in response to anpatiby Jonathan UK,Hi
The hourly Stand credit is awarded when you stand up and also move around for at least one minute during that hour.
Apple Watch uses an accelerometer to identify movement, so a minute's walk around with your arms swinging naturally should achieve this.
Repeat this within each of 12 separate hours throughout the day to achieve the daily Stand goal (completing the blue Stand ring in the Activity app).

If you have not yet earned Stand credit within any given hour, a Stand reminder notification will be delivered at xx.50, leaving ten minutes within which to earn credit for that hour.
Credit can be earned at any time within those ten minutes - as it also can within any given hour of the day.

They should not be calling it as Stand in the app. Because it is confusing. .. they need to rename those terminology for better clarity to the consumers.

If you would like to suggest that Apple considers renaming the Stand goal, you can do so here:
