10.2 Cannot properly access external drive while importing media

I have a MacBook Pro 15" Retina 2.7 i7, 16BG RAM running Yosemite 10.10.3. I recently updated to FCP 10.2. When I went to import media (it doesn't matter which way you try to import the media, same result) into a new Library. The external drive (LaCie 6TB Thunderbolt 2 connected via Thunderbolt 2 cable) shows up as a camera, not a drive, so I cannot use all the folders etc. for tags, if I import the media treating the drive as a camera instead of a drive. I have tried the following: Restarting FCP, Restarting my computer, disconnecting my hard drive, repeating all the previous steps.

Anyone have any ideas how I can get FCP to recognize the drive as a drive?

Take a look at your folders at the root level. See if you have one or more with names lie Private or Video. If you do, alter the name or drop them into a folder with a different name.

Russ,

Your rock! I did not have anything labeled video or Private, but I did have a GoPro folder, which FCP obviously interpreted as a camera folder. I dropped the GoPro folder into another folder and now the drive shows up in the proper place.
