Continually having to add folder to library

iTunes 12.1.2.27.

I have a specific folder for certain songs that I'm continually adding to.
That folder has been added to the iTunes Library. I assumed that any song added
to that folder would show up in iTunes, however, it appears that each time I
add a song to the folder, to have it show up in the library I have to
re-add that folder to the library. Is there a setting that would automatically
add anything that is added to that folder to the library ?

Also, is there any way that if a song in that particular folder is moved to
another folder that is already in the library, that song will also show up in
the library ?

Thanks,

Steve

Good day Steve,

So it sounds as if you are adding song files to a folder in Windows rather than adding them to iTunes in the application. A better way to do what you want would be to bring the songs into iTunes. See this article -

Add music to iTunes - Apple Support

In particular the section titled Add music from your computer if you already have music in your library.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Thanks for the response.

I am doing what the article says as follows:

Add music from your computer if you already have music in your library

To add more music from your computer:

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Windows: File > Add Folder to Library.
  3. Navigate to and select the file or folder you want to add.
  4. Click Open.

However, I was wondering if there was a way to add a new song that was added to that folder without having to re-add that folder every time I add a song to it.

Thanks,

Steve
