Q: Bluetooth On iPhone 6 keeps dropping connection to AppleWatch

I am running an iPhone 6 w/ iOS 8.3 and on the second day of receiving my  watch, the connection has continually dropped. I can see the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar at the top of the iPhone flash on and off, and when I check the Bluetooth in Settings, it says it's not connected to the  watch.

Sometimes I will see the disconnected iPhone icon at the top of the  watch. If I notice, I toggle the airplane mode on and off and it reconnects.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Well, the good news is... Apple is working on it. They contacted me, asked me a bunch of questions, and put some debugging code in my phone so they could see what was going on. The debug logs showing a few of these "events" are now in their hands, so hopefully they can figure it out soon.

I was very pleased with the experience... but will obviously be more pleased when it's actually fixed.

That is good news as I didn't know Apple used such tools to identity issues.  I'm hoping this leads to an eventual solution...  Please keep us updated...

That is great news as I have a major problem with this on my iPhone 6

I Am a sales rep and spend most of my day in my car. As a company we have iPhone 5's but changing to 6's but have stopped this due to the problem with the 6 dropping the Bluetooth and then reconnecting  again. Just as   described. But does not do it at all with the iPhone 5.

    looking forward to the fix

I am also having this exact same issue with my iphone 6S plus. Made hundreds of calls with my 5S with no issues and this bluetooth drops several times per call. Has me scrambling to pick up my phone to continue the call and then it reconnects...only to drop again a minute or so later and continue this whole process over and over. This is pretty dangerous as you are driving. Funny thing is that I've bought two identical phones and only one of them is having this issue.

I'm having a similar bluetooth drop issue in my car with my iPhone 6s. In the middle of a call, I'll hear the disconnect tones... my stereo kicks back on... but the call is still in progress. A second or two later, the phone reconnects to the car's bluetooth and call resumes. Very annoying, and it did not happen with my iPhone 5 in the same car (made hundreds of calls over three years with that combination). It's happened at least a dozen times over the last three weeks with my new 6s.

No other bluetooth devices in the vicinity, and the 6s is the only device paired with the car - I removed the 5's profile (not that I should have to - the bluetooth spec allows and should handle multiple devices).

I get the above problem when i am driving my 2015 Mercedes c400, the bluetooth drops every 20 to 40 seconds. Both my phone and display in my car constantly reads " disconnect/reconnect" every 20 seconds.

Here's the thing when I am in my wife's 2015 BMW x5 I don't have the same problem.

I am having a similarish issue with my iPhone 6.  About ever 24 hours or so, I have an issue where my bluetooth connection drops, but I also am noticing that I also cannot connect to any WiFi networks.  No WiFi networks show up in the list, and if I try to connect to my Apple Watch or any other bluetooth device, my iPhone says the connection failed and to be sure that the device is within range and powered on.  I have to turn off both bluetooth and wifi for a few seconds and then turn them back on in order to regain functionality.

My understanding is that the iPhones use a combo WiFi and Bluetooth chip, so it sounds like the chip is getting out of whack at some point and turning both features off and then back on resets the chip.

At first I thought it was a hardware issue with the chip dying, so I brought my original iPhone 6 to the Apple Store about 4 months ago and got it replaced while it was still in warranty, but now the issue is happening again, so either I'm having the worst luck or there is actually some kind of software issue.

I have opened a case with Apple support regarding this issue and it has been escalated to level 2.  I would suggest calling in and referencing the case number as the more people who report it, the more attention it will get.

    The case number is: ***************

I have the exact same problem and still have had no luck figuring out what is going on.  It really is a nuisance when you have to constantly toggle the Bluetooth on and off every 24 hours.

Really glad I found this post because I have the same problem and it's driving me crazy.  Have an iPad and it can maintain a Bluetooth Connction for days but my phone keeps dropping.   Same scenario too, everything was working fine then this weird behavior started up.

The best advice I can give you is to call Apple Support and reference my existing case number.  Unfortunately, I cannot post the case numer here as Apple keeps removing it from my post.  Is there a way for me to PM it to you?

    Thanks,

    Chuck

I am having the same issue.  I have had the pone for over a year and within the last month it started dropping my vehicle connection on a daily basis and my Charge HR.  I have to reboot my phone every day in order to solve the issue.  Both my Charge HR and Vehicle have been connected to the phone for over a year as well.  I don't understand this sudden issue.

Well, it appears that they still haven't fixed this.  My three year old Samsung was dying so I "upgraded" to the iPhone 6 and now I can't manage a conference call without my Plantronics Legend dropping on and off constantly throughout the meeting.  I've gone to Plantronics and downloaded any new software they have but it still keeps happening.  I've done everything suggested on this thread and still no luck.  I cannot stand talking on a smartphone.  I purchased the headset specifically to conduct business on my phone and I can't stay connected to bluetooth.  Has anyone had any luck with anything or are we still just waiting for Apple to fix this problem?

    Debbie
